A dry fast is an absolute, true fast in which you abstain from both food and water. This is the type of fast that was practised by Moses (Exodus 34:28 & Deuteronomy 9:18, both times for 40 days), Ezra (Ezra 10:6, length undisclosed), the Nation of Israel (Esther 4:16, 3 days), Elijah (1 Kings 19:18, 40 days), the Ninevites and their animals (Jonah 3:7-10), most likely Jonah himself when he spent 3 days in the belly of the whale (Jonah 1:17), the Apostle Paul (Acts: 9:9, 3 days), and Jesus Christ (Matt 4:2, 40 days).
I have believed the power of fasting from the bible stories and all the victories that were experienced. I have learnt God heals people of Chronic conditions even through fasting. From my theatre experiences, you do not go in theatre with a full stomach, they ask you to go on starvation for certain hours and you are told to get your bowels cleaned before they open if the Surgery is for the abdomen.
If the Doctors requires that from a patient, l believe its a biblical principle looking at how much fasting was beneficial in the olden biblical days as much as yes most Doctors of this day are not saved.
We do face challenges in our day today lives whether spiritually, physically or psychologically but what l have discovered is; the biggest mistake that the enemy makes to ELEVATE a Christian/Child of God to the HIGHEST level where they are intended to be is by piling up problems on them. l have realised from my experiences that the more the problems the higher the level of my faith and dependence on God and victory is guaranteed, it might tarry but l will wait for at the appointed/right time it will definitely come for all His promises are yes and Amen in Christ Jesus.
Some challenges can only be overcomed by Prayer and Fasting as Jesus said Mark 9 v 29. Fasting not only as a religious act but realising just how fragile we are and how much we depend on God, getting our minds back on the reality that we are not self sufficient. Jesus Himself fasted, great men of faith that we read of in the bible, Moses, Elijah, Ezra, Nehemiah e.t.c, they all fasted.
Because of Prayer and Fasting, Esther broke the rule, she went against the law by going to the King without being invited. That's the power Prayer and fasting, you do the abnormal.
James 4 v 8 says; Draw near to God and He will draw near to you; but how do we do that! Constant prayer and occasionally fasting will help us do that.
1. If Haman had not threatened to destroy Mordecai and the whole of the Jews people they would not have been known/recognised in a foreign land.
2. If Queen Vashti had not acted in the way that she acted Esther was never going to be known in the Palace.
3. Today we read about Daniel and his friends how they stood for what they believed in, if there was no King Nebuchadnezzar and his hardness there was not going to be anything to learn from the story.
4. If Penninah had not mocked Hannah, Samuel wouldn't have been born.
5. If Joseph's brothers had not been cruel to him and if Potiphah's wife had not acted in the way she acted, we would not be reading of his victory.
I have realised how opportunities come hidden in a problem. When you are faced by a difficult situation, quitting is not always the solution for by standing as children of God victory is guaranteed.
Problems, challenges can land you to your intended destination should you not give up!!!!!!
